    The Great Raleigh Cleanup is a community-driven nonprofit working to create a cleaner, greener Raleigh through volunteer action and dignified workforce opportunities.

    About the Role

    The Community Engagement Coordinator supports The Great Raleigh Cleanup’s community programs, events, marketing, education initiatives, and engagement systems. This role strengthens volunteer participation, supports storytelling and communications, coordinates educational outreach, and helps ensure the organization’s events and programs run smoothly.

    This position plays a key role in connecting Raleigh residents, schools, and community partners with opportunities to protect and improve their environment.

    What You’ll Do (this isn’t all)

    Community Engagement

    • Support volunteer engagement and communications

    • Help strengthen Adopt-the-Block participation and member support

    • Represent TGRC at tabling events and community outreach opportunities

    • Coordinate supply lending and returns

    Events

    • Assist with planning and execution of major TGRC events

    • Support logistics for cleanups, celebrations, and community gatherings

    • Help with event prep, materials, and follow-up

    Marketing & Communications

    • Support communications needs

    • Help manage and update contact lists

    • Assist with newsletters and audience segmentation

    • Support storytelling and content collection

    Data & Impact

    • Help compile impact statistics and organize reporting

    • Support annual Impact Report development

    • Keep basic tracking systems updated and organized

    Education & Partnerships

    • Support youth and school engagement opportunities

    • Help coordinate educational outreach and community education efforts

    • Develop Sustainability Eduction curriculum

    Board Support

    • Help prepare materials for board meetings

    • Support board communications and follow-up items as needed

    Qualifications

    We’re looking for someone who is:

    • Organized and detail-oriented

    • Comfortable managing multiple moving pieces

    • A strong communicator

    • Friendly, community-minded, and self-directed

    • Excited about environmental stewardship and local impact

    Preferred experience includes:

    • Nonprofit, community engagement, event planning, or marketing work

    • Mailchimp or other email platforms

    • Google Workspace

    • Basic data tracking and reporting

    • Community outreach or volunteer coordination

    Reliable transportation is strongly preferred, as some responsibilities include event support, supply coordination, and community outreach.

    Schedule & Compensation

    • Full-time position (40 hours per week)

    • Some evenings and weekends may be required, as that’s when many of our community events happen

    • Salary range: $48,000–$55,000, depending on experience, plus a $200/month health insurance stipend Why This Role Matters
